Volunteer Attorney Spotlight:
Barbara Queen, Esq.

Where are you from (where did you grow up / where do you live now)?
I grew up in Hampton Roads. My Dad was in the Navy and was stationed at Portsmouth Naval Hospital. I now live in Richmond with my four year old rescue beagle Cinnamon. ;)

How did you get started volunteering for CancerLINC?
I think I started volunteering in 2010. I started because I wanted to give back and my Dad was diagnosed with and ultimately lost his battle with Cancer in 2010. So I do it to honor him.

What volunteer activities have you done for CancerLINC?
Mostly answering questions and meeting with people to answer questions and help with paperwork.

What do you find rewarding about volunteering here?
Trying to protect yourself and family with employment can be a bit tricky. Paperwork can be confusing and complicated and having someone to advocate and help can make a big difference.

What career / hobbies / other interests do you have?
I like to read, cook, garden and play with my nephews.

Is there a story or other information you’d like to share?
I think that works, I am really kind of boring. :)
